On our Virtual Map

Push yourself further in September on The ‘Virtual’ Thames Path Challenge! Choose from 4 distance options and track your progress, and that of fellow participants, on our special TRAIL MAP with leader boards. Our virtual trails range from 50 km, the Classic 100 km of our ‘annual real’ Thames Path Challenge –  up to the full Sea to Source 375 km. You may choose to incorporate some sections of the real Thames Path into your challenge if you can make it, or just take on the trails & footpaths closer to home whilst clocking up the KM. Take it on with friends, in teams or go it alone and join your community online via our Facebook page to share your journey!

How it works...

Track your progress online

Once you’ve signed up to your chosen distance, you can ‘link’ your registration to our integrated TRAIL MAP with Strava (so your activities will automatically feed through to our online maps) OR you can add your activities manually (so once an activity is logged you will progress along our virtual maps). You will have the whole of September to complete your challenge – and you can join at any time up to 14 Sept.

The Thames is England’s longest, and greatest river with it’s source deep in the hills of Gloucestershire and heads through many historic towns on it’s way to the Capital and then beyond to the sea. For the past 8 years – our annual ‘Thames Path Challenge’ has seen up to 6,000 adventurers take on sections of the the London to Henley path – and as we’ve gone ‘Virtual’ for 2020 there’s even more choice!

It’s the same route as the popular 2nd Half of our annual ‘Thames Path Challenge’. Setting out from Runneymede (of Magna Carta fame) and meandering through Windsor, Eton, Maidenhead and Marlow en route to the finish in Henley.

This is our annual ‘Thames Path Challenge’ route – and over 15,000 have completed it over the past 8 years, with times as low as 8 hours for fast runners, many walkers achieving sub 24 hrs, and 34 hours or so for those taking it easy!

This the official full ‘Thames Path National Trail’ – starting from the Thames Barrier near Woolwich (which keeps the sea out of the Capital) – all the way to the river’s source – Thames Head – in the Gloucestershire hills.

If you want to really push yourself further – take on the extra section of the ‘nearly completed’ new section of the Thames Path! This starts right out at the tip of the Estuary on the Isle of Grain where it will join up with the new Coastal Path

What you'll get...

We’ve 2 package options for this Virtual Challenge – depending on which suits you best.

Fundraise for Charity

The 2019 Thames Path Challenge raised over £1.2 million for over 400 different UK Charities*, as the physical event won’t be happening this year, we are looking to help our Charity Partners by encouraging fundraising on this Virtual version of the event, to raise much needed sum during this difficult time.

Our 2020 Virtual Challenges have now raised more than £100,000 for UK Charities*, and we are hoping that our Virtual Thames Path Challenge will raise a further £50,000 for our Ultra Challenge Series Partners.
